You Have His Baby, He Hates Your Stretch Marks, What Do You Do?

A viral screenshot raises the question of what partners owe each other after a baby.

A screenshot making the rounds online had us asking a fair question: after a woman gives birth, is she still expected to keep her partner visually impressed? The post, which we cannot verify as real, appeared to show a man saying stretch marks had made him lose attraction to the mother of his child.

Giving birth is a blessing not every woman gets, and for many it leaves marks. Some women get pregnant and never see a single stretch mark, while others use all the cocoa butter in the world and still end up with stripes. Stretch marks are often not preventable, which makes them a strange thing to hold against anyone.

Does a mother owe it to her partner to protect her skin from something she probably could not avoid, all to keep a two parent household together? And if a man uses something as minor as stretch marks as an excuse to step out on his family, is that really about stretch marks at all?

Whether the post is real or just someone trolling, plenty of people do think this way, and that is sad. Real love means appreciating the person who gave life, not only how she looks. What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
