A Las Vegas substitute has been arrested for making inappropriate comments and forcing two students to kiss, authorities say.
On Oct. 12, at around 10:30 a.m., officers with the North Las Vegas Police Department responded to a call of “offenses to students” at the Legacy Traditional School – North Valley, located in the 5000 block of Valley Drive, 8News Now reported.
Authorities learned two days before, substitute teacher, Rasheda Rose, 29, allegedly made inappropriate comments to students and made two 6th-graders kiss each other in front of the class. She then allegedly told the two students that “they were kissing each other wrong” and told them “how to do it right.”
Rose was called in to sub for six classes on Tuesday, Oct. 10 through an external agency.
According to a member of the school, several teachers and students reported to him the incident that allegedly took place, with one of the students telling students that they were going to deviate from their “normal” work given by their teacher to instead play a game called “Never Have I Ever.” And that’s when the inappropriate questions started, the outlet reported.
Rose then instructed the students to close the emergency blinds and then told them no one could leave the room. She then had two students—that were dating—come to the front of the class room and kiss.
The students told police they were uncomfortable and did not want to do it but were scared they would get in trouble if they didn’t obey, the arrest report says.
A secret video recording taken by a fellow student reportedly recorded Rose saying “Imma [sic] ask those two if they can give us a show” and “We’re not going to say anything.” Rose allegedly told the students there could be no cellphones.
Two students provided police the audio recordings of the incident, which also picked up Rose saying, “What happens in Mrs. Rose [sic] classroom, stays in Mrs. Rose classroom.”
“I want it to be where everyone can see. Imma [sic] count to five, once at five, I want yaw to share a lil peck.”
Rose also withheld students from the third-period class and told them to lie to the next teacher and say they were taking a test. She is also accused of telling students how to delete “deleted” messages and hide things on their cellphones from their parents.
The mother of one of the students who was forced to kiss said her daughter has since been teased and bullied and cries often. She has since removed her daughter from the school and when she tried to meet with the principal about the incident, she did not hear back.
Rose was arrested on Nov. 1 and booked into the North Las Vegas Community Correctional Center. She faces two charges of child abuse or neglect. She is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 8.
