Peter Thomas is not sweating his latest lawsuit loss because he has no plans of paying it.
According to court documents obtained by Radar Online, Thomas planned to expand his empire in Miami, where he once owned the Bar One lounge. That business was open from 2019 to 2023, and Thomas rented a separate space for an “upscale supper club” called 1 Society nearby. Thomas signed a 120-month lease but never opened 1 Society. DTS DT Retail, which owned the space where 1 Society was supposed to be housed, sued Thomas in January 2023, and last month, DTS was awarded a $9,175,189.38 judgment for breach of contract.
Despite DTS accusing Thomas of failing to turn in Tenant Plans within 30 days of the lease and refusing to return the keys to the property, Thomas fired back, claiming it was actually them who breached the contract. Thomas argued that DTS violated the lease by failing to provide him “sufficient access to the premises,” which ultimately should excuse his obligation to them.
Well, once these court documents surfaced online, Thomas spoke to Radar Online directly, telling the outlet he plans to file an appeal.
“I’m going to win. They’ll never see a dime,” he declared.
Thomas has been involved in a string of legal issues involving his companies in recent years. Before Bar One Miami was closed down due to eviction, several employees accused Thomas of failing to pay them in 2023. In 2021, another Bar One employee accused the former reality star of writing her checks that bounced. In 2019, the entrepreneur was sued for failing to pay rent at his Sports One lounge in Charlotte, North Carolina. Further back in 2016, he was also sued for defrauding an investor out of $150,000. Needless to say, his practices have been called into question numerous times, with this latest lawsuit only adding to his troubles.
