Terrell Owens has been the focus of several child support discussions since news that one of his child’s mothers offered to discount his child support payment if he spends 6 hours a month with his daughter.
Necole Bitchie posted the story to her Instagram page and after commenters gave T.O. a piece of their mind he felt the need to comment. In his comment Terrell blames every one but himself as to why he hasn’t been present in his children’s lives both physically nor financially.
“I do agree that something needs to be done,” he commented, “but unfortunately the court systems are catered toward the women. Also from personal experience took care of my kids financially while playing & it wasn’t until my financial circumstances changed that my role as a father was in question. I admit that I didn’t spend the time I should have but when reality hit that the large amount I was paying in child support was coming to an end I was labeled as a dead beat dad.”
He goes on to say “I can’t speak for all women out there but for the majority it’s all about the money. It was an exhausting process to go through and I thank God for my kids, I love them but the system definitely needs some tweaking.”
Now while I will admit that a majority of the time the system favors women, Mr. Terrell Owens needs to understand favoritism is not the case for him! Terrell Owens is speaking like a broke man who never had millions in his hand. Or a man who never had the option of wearing condoms. He’s speaking like a man who played no part in impregnating 4 random women and didn’t have the option of going to court and lowering his child support payments when he fell on hard times financially. In fact, in 2012 he had his payments lowered significantly, so why isn’t he paying?
T.O. has not played a lick of football since 2010, so you’re telling me that his children have not received any support in 3-4 years and that’s okay? Now that he does not play what is keeping him from seeing his children? Of course if you haven’t seen and/or supported your children for half their lives your role as a father will come into question. T.O. lumps himself in with fathers who are TRULY and HONESTLY being mistreated by the system. That is not the case for him at all. He’s not being mistreated, he’s not holding himself the slightest bit accountable. It looks to me like someone needs to stop pointing fingers and find ways to be a better father to his children.
