After a tough start to the season, the 1-4 Philadelphia 76ers will welcome new addition Paul George for his first regular-season game after recovering from a bone bruise in his left knee, sustained on October 4. George, who participated in a 5-on-5 scrimmage on Friday, was officially announced as active earlier today.
The nine-time NBA All-Star will be playing the first game of the team’s three-game West Coast road trip, starting tonight against the Phoenix Suns. On Wednesday, George will face his former team, the Los Angeles Clippers. When asked about returning to L.A. on his podcast *Podcast P with Paul George*, he shared a candid response:
“As it always is returning to familiar places, it’s always gonna be emotional because you spent so much time with these people and you’ve really learned and counted on them, looking at them as family, so it’ll definitely have some emotional touch to it. And then obviously, seeing the homies, seeing the guys that you’ve played against and went to battle with, so it’ll be fun in that aspect to compete against those guys,” George said.
Former league MVP Joel Embiid is still nursing a left knee injury and hasn’t played yet this season, so George’s addition will be welcomed by All-Star guard Tyrese Maxey, who is currently averaging 30 points, five assists, and nearly two steals per game.
