Luigi Mangione's Mother Admitted She "Could See Him" Slaying UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson

The mother of Luigi Mangione admitted she wasn’t surprised that he was accused of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

Two days before his arrest, Mangione’s mother, Kathleen, told investigators she “could see him” shooting Thompson, New York police revealed Tuesday. Her chilling remark came as Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg announced a first-degree murder indictment, citing the December 4th killing as an act of terrorism.

NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny revealed that Kathleen had filed a missing person report for Mangione in November. A tip from San Francisco police linked the missing man to a grinning individual seen on hostel security footage. When questioned on December 7th, Kathleen didn’t confirm the person was her son but said, “It might be something that she could see him doing.” Mangione was arrested on December 9th at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania, carrying a 9 mm “ghost gun,” suppressor, and fake IDs.

Authorities allege Mangione ambushed Thompson in Midtown Manhattan, firing multiple shots. Thompson, 50, died in the hospital shortly after. Evidence includes a three-page manifesto railing against the health insurance industry and shell casings marked with words like “deny” and “depose.” Fingerprints tied Mangione to the crime scene.

Prosecutors described the murder as a calculated act meant to “sow terror” during a busy Midtown morning. Mangione, who reportedly harbored resentment toward corporate America, is challenging extradition to New York, where he faces upgraded murder charges. He remains jailed in Pennsylvania on separate charges.
