André 3000 Says Fans “Have to Thank” Drake for Leaking His Verse on Kanye West’s “Life of the Party” [Video]

Throughout the past few months, Drake has been consistently getting hit with major backlash. Despite the naysayers, André 3000 recently extended some kind words to Drizzy, thanking him for making a certain move.

Three Stacks recently appeared on the “NFR” podcast and reflected on a significant moment in hip-hop, which happened to be the messy release of Kanye West’s “Life Of The Party” track. The conversation transitioned into the explanation of how Drake leaked the unreleased song on his OVO Sound Radio show. This play allegedly fueled the infamous beef between Drake and West. Although the release wasn’t ideal, André 3000 revealed that he was grateful and didn’t hold any grudges against Drake.

“I mean, the history of it now—I know Kanye and Drake had some beef and words and they were beefing at the time,” André explained. “I don’t know how it happened—this is so odd—Drake got a hold to the song before Kanye was able to put it out. And Drake released it on his radio show.”

Additionally, André admitted that the leak was a double-edged sword and at the time, he and Kanye were having disagreements over his verse.

“Kanye and I weren’t really in agreeance of how the song would be released,” André continued. “Kanye didn’t want any curse words on the album. And I said, ‘I’m totally fine with no curse words, but just take me off the song.’”

Before long, the song ended up online thanks to the Toronto star.

“Kind of have to thank Drake for letting that song see the light of day,” the Outkast rapper shared.

Elsewhere in the conversation, André also cleared up rumors that he learned about the leaked track, which also featured shots aimed at Drake, at the same time it was shared with the public. André clarified that he heard the diss before its release and had a conversation with the Chicago producer.

“Me and Kanye had a conversation about it,” the Outkast rapper said. “I had my feelings about it. I was like, ‘Man do you really want to do this on this type of song,’ you know. I was like ‘It’s kind of like going and shooting up your mom’s funeral,’… and you know, he felt the way he felt.”
