Patrick Mahomes Sr. has admitted that his viral Bourbon Street altercation with former MLB pitcher John Rocker was completely staged—all in an effort to promote an upcoming celebrity boxing match.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ Sports, the father of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes II revealed the truth about the incident on Feb. 13 while meeting with officials regarding his probation for a third DWI offense.

Mahomes Sr. had received permission to travel to New Orleans for Super Bowl LIX but raised concerns when he missed a scheduled urine test on Feb. 11. Officials then questioned him about the now-viral scuffle with Rocker, which many had believed was a genuine altercation.

In an apparent effort to avoid any trouble, Mahomes Sr. admitted that the fight was entirely staged to generate publicity for their celebrity boxing match, set to take place in April 2025.

Court records even include a contract from Barstool Sports’ “Rough N Rowdy”, which shows Mahomes Sr. and Rocker agreed to fight back on Jan. 17—weeks before their dramatic encounter in New Orleans. The deal reportedly guarantees Mahomes Sr. a base pay of $85,000, with the potential for much more depending on Pay-Per-View sales.

Mahomes Sr. ultimately took his delayed urine test on Feb. 12, which came back negative. Though a judge warned that his probation could be revoked if he slips up again, he managed to avoid any immediate legal consequences.
