Halle Bailey Seeks Sole Custody of Son Halo, Citing Alleged Abuse by Ex-Boyfriend DDG

Halle Bailey is taking legal action to protect her son. According to newly released court documents, the Little Mermaid star is requesting sole legal and physical custody of her son, Halo Saint, whom she shares with her ex-boyfriend, rapper and YouTuber DDG (real name Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr.).

Bailey, who gave birth to Halo in December 2023, filed a petition asking the court to restrict DDG from having unsupervised access to their child. She is requesting that any visitation DDG is granted be supervised by a professional service, limited to once a week for six hours, and only while the child is in Los Angeles. She is also seeking to prevent him from taking Halo outside of Los Angeles County.

In the filing, Bailey accuses DDG of past abusive behavior and outlines her fears of potential child abduction. She claims he has hidden or threatened to hide Halo from her and has refused to work with her on creating a visitation schedule. Bailey is also asking the court to prohibit DDG from obtaining travel documents for their son without her permission and to provide detailed travel plans in the event he is allowed to take Halo anywhere.

Bailey described one incident in January where an argument escalated into a physical altercation. She alleges that while trying to discuss a visitation plan, DDG cursed at her in front of Halo, who was crying, and refused to say when he would return the baby. The dispute reportedly turned violent, with Bailey claiming he pulled her hair and slammed her face into a steering wheel, chipping her tooth.

“I felt very nervous that he was taking Halo with him and was very agitated; I did not feel safe leaving a baby with him in his state,” Bailey wrote in the documents. “I wanted to get out of the car with Halo but was now stuck.”

Bailey said she has repeatedly tried to avoid involving the courts but can no longer endure what she describes as ongoing emotional and physical abuse.

“I realize that there is no placating Darryl,” she stated. “I cannot allow this abuse any longer. I cannot keep living like this.”

The court has granted Bailey a temporary restraining order against DDG, requiring him to remain more than 100 yards away from her and their son, including at school and near her vehicle.

Bailey and DDG, who began dating in 2022, reportedly split earlier this year. A hearing regarding custody and visitation has been scheduled for June 4.
