This afternoon Former Safety, Hamza Abdullah, went on a twitter rant full of profanity and comparing the NFL to slavery and the NFL Combine as the “slave trade”. Now, I don’t want to focus on all those “F the NFL” tweets. There was an underlying message that struck a chord in my heart.
These tweets right here SCREAM for help. This man wants to die. He doesn’t want to kill himself, BUT, if he never woke up again, he’d be thrilled. That’s depression and suicidal thoughts. I have loved ones that feel the same way. They don’t want to take the matters into their own hands to end their life, but if there’s a horrific accident and that person dies, to them, “it’s OK.”
God’s will, if you will. There are so many people that just don’t want to wake up anymore. They’re tired of living, the sh**ty life that they have. Thoughts can be so strong that you DO take matters into your own hands and then…
IT’S TOO LATE.
Reading this man’s twitter broke me down into tears, I’m still tearing up. Its’s such a desperate cry for help. This isn’t some “hormonal woman” this is a man…a black man…a strong black man.
He said, “I’m married to a beautiful wife, have 3 beautiful children, and my financially GOOD, yet I don’t want to wake up.” Do you know how F’D up that is?!!? Some of us want to be financially stable, with a lifemate and children, but here’s this former football player who would be content with dying.
My God.
I’ve had people close to me tell me the exact same thing. It breaks my heart. Depression is so F**KING REAL. Things that goes on in someone’s mind is totally different than what YOU see.
Life *IS* worth living. It’s hard as HELL, but it IS worth living. I do hope and pray that this man’s children is not of age to see or hear about those tweets. Do you know the impact of that would have on his children? Depression and suicidal thoughts affect EVERYONE in your life.
