Tia Mowry Says Healing After Divorce Takes Friends, Hobbies, and a Few Tears: "Dive Into Doing the Work"

Tia Mowry is opening up with heartfelt advice on how to navigate the emotional storm of divorce, pulling from her own personal journey.

During a recent Q&A on her Instagram Story, one fan didn’t hold back, asking, “Girl how the hell do I recover from this divorce? Lord help me Chile!” The question hit home for Mowry, who went through her own public split from actor Cory Hardrict in 2022 after 14 years of marriage.

Mowry responded with empathy and encouragement.

“I think I’d say: dive into doing the work,” she said. “Really, truly focus on self-care. Focus on what makes you happy and what brings you joy. Build a tribe, a community of friends, a support system. Meditate. Try new hobbies. Read books on healing. Spend time with your kids if you have them, or just surround yourself with people who genuinely love and support you.”

Tia Mowry sits on a bench, offering advice on healing from divorce. She's dressed in black with long braids, in a bright room.

She also emphasized the power of new experiences.

“Do things that feel fun and fulfilling. Travel, if you can. Traveling really helped me. It’s all about creating new experiences. The more experiences you have, the further away you get from that heavy, gut-wrenching feeling of divorce.”

Now 46, the actress has embraced vulnerability, especially in front of her children. “I’ve made the choice to move from an authentic place. And allow \[Cairo] to see that there are days when Mommy is sad. And that’s okay… when you move in authenticity, there’s healing, there’s growth — and I’ve allowed my children to do that as well.”
