Kyrie Irving is set to remain in Dallas for the long haul. Per ESPN’s Shams Charania, the 33-year-old guard will decline his $42.9 million player option for 2025-26 and instead commit to a three-year, $119 million extension that includes a player option for 2027-28. The agreement, which cannot be signed until July 6th, offers Irving security as he rehabs the torn ACL suffered March 3rd against Sacramento.
For the Mavericks, the structure trims Irving’s annual hit, easing cap pressure while preserving a title blueprint built around Irving, Anthony Davis and projected No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg.
Irving averaged 24.7 points last season and 30.7 in the seven-game stretch between Davis’ adductor strain and his own injury, before the team’s playoff hopes unraveled.
Flagg is projected to ink a four-year rookie deal worth $62.7 million, according to Spotrac. Dallas believes a Flagg-Davis front line can keep the club competitive while Irving recovers.
