Kelli Ferrell, the newest face of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” is now facing heat off-camera after a former employee took legal action, accusing her of failing to pay for weeks of work.
Saniyah Casey filed a lawsuit on August 27th, claiming she was hired on July 8th to work at Ferrell’s restaurant, Nana’s Chicken-N-Waffles. She says she worked until August 15th, but only got one paycheck. According to court documents, Casey is owed more than $2,000 in wages and is demanding over $18,000 in total damages, back pay, and legal fees.
“The emotional toll this has taken on my mental health. The instability of not getting paid by my employer has been crushing,” Casey wrote. She added, “The uncertainty of when I’ll receive my wages, coupled with the emotional toll of giving my all at work while they knowingly go on with their lives and still withhold payment, has left me feeling devalued and deeply stressed. It’s a betrayal that has significantly impacted my mental well-being.”
Casey also claimed she tried contacting Ferrell several times through texts, emails, and in person, but still didn’t get the money she was owed.
Ferrell’s team says it was all a mix-up.
“Due to a routine administrative error that can occasionally occur when launching a new business, Ms. Casey’s payment was delayed by two weeks.” They also claimed she refused a certified check and chose to file suit instead.
This lawsuit adds to Ferrell’s recent legal issues, but her team says they plan to handle the matter quickly.
