Under Armour made a very wise decision when they decided to sponsor Steph Curry back in 2013. According to the Wall Street Journal, sales of Curry’s shoe line have skyrocketed this year, helping Under Armour to reach over $1 billion in revenue in the last quarter alone. Of the company’s 30% increase in revenue from $805 million to $1.05 billion, the biggest part of that growth was in footwear. UA’s earnings release shows that sales of footwear rose 64% over the past year.
During an earnings call on Thursday morning, Under Armour CEO Kevin Plank couldn’t stop talking about the Golden State Warriors star and the effect that he’s had on the company’s success. Plank also pointed out how fitting it was that #30 (who also happens to average 30 points a game) helped them to increase their revenue by 30%. You can bet Under Armour is thanking their lucky stars they have Curry on their team, cause we all know by now that all he does is win.
