A tragic story out of Florida is making headlines. According to the Daily Mail and local reports, a man named Henry killed his estranged wife and their two young children before taking his own life on Sunday night in Lake Mary.
Authorities say Henry, 30, was armed with a knife and hid in the trunk of his estranged wife’s car, which was parked outside a Chili’s restaurant. When his wife, Chericia, 31, returned to the car around 10pm, he reportedly jumped out and stabbed her multiple times. Reports say he then dragged her into nearby bushes.
Two people who were dining at the restaurant saw what was happening and tried to help her. Authorities say Henry ran them over with his car, along with Chericia. One of the injured was taken to Central Florida Regional Medical Center as a trauma alert, and the other was taken to Florida Hospital.
According to reports, Henry then left the scene, switched vehicles and picked up the couple’s two children, a 4 year old son and a 1 year old daughter, from their babysitter. He drove to the hospital where Chericia had been taken and where she was later pronounced dead. Police say he fired on officers and hospital security after he was recognized, then fled in a pickup truck. Officers disabled the truck with stop sticks on Interstate 4. When they approached, they found that Henry had shot himself and had also shot both children, who did not survive.
Reports say the couple married in 2012 and had their son that same year. They separated in December after a domestic violence incident.
