A family dispute involving NFL cornerback Antonio Cromartie and his mother went public this week over a Florida home he bought for her.
According to TMZ, a relative of Cromartie shared what appeared to be an eviction notice addressed to his mother, Cassandra. The notice reportedly says she owes $2,310 in back payments and must pay or leave by August 15. The relative says Cromartie bought the house in 2007 and covered its costs for years, until he recently asked his mother to start paying $700 a month toward the mortgage. A GoFundMe page was also reportedly started to help her.
Reps for Cromartie dispute that account. According to TMZ, his reps say his mother has made payments since 2011 under an agreement, and that she stopped in June. They also say she recently received an insurance settlement and plans to buy another home, and that Cromartie has told her his wife and children are his financial priority. Cromartie himself did not respond to a request for comment from TMZ at the time of publication.
Cromartie’s wife, Terricka, also shared screenshots on Instagram of what she says are text messages from his mother about the situation. Those claims have not been independently confirmed.
