The day we’ve all yearned for has finally arrived. Never in my wildest dreams would I have begun to imagine a day such as this could exist. I woke up with tears in my eyes because today January 20, 2009, America has selected a man of vigor, integrity & of great character to be our new president.
The dream Martin Luther King envisioned has come. Today sparks the dawn of a new day. Can somebody say Amen!!!! To be in the Nations Capital right now is a feeling that can’t be put to words. I am overwhelmed with joy, I cry tears of joy for the simple fact, that we, as Americans have finally arrived. Race is no longer a factor. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.
The torch has been passed & the journey has just begun. The job that lies ahead of OUR president will surely be a tough one, but just as he spoke in his speech, we have “chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord”. As long as we continue to act as a unified people & do our job, his job won’t seem as overwhelming.
This is real, its surely not a dream. I only wish those individuals who fought so hard for to get us to where we are could see it. Their hard work, along with the blood, sweat & tears was not done in vain.
Class never looked so good until I laid eyes on MY FIRST FAMILY. The image of the African American family can be restored to what it once was.
So to the Obama’s & the Bidens welcome home! Get comfortable, we surely do welcome you with open arms.
