Derrick Rose can breathe a sigh of relief because he’s been cleared of all charges brought against him from the civil lawsuit in which a woman claims he and his friends gang raped her.
Derrick Rose, Randall Hampton, and Ryan Allen were all accused of breaking into the woman’s apartment and having sex with her while she was drugged and in and out of consciousness. Rose maintained that the sex was consensual and that the accuser was only making these allegations because she wanted money for a sex toy and he stopped answering her calls.
Last week, incriminating text messages may have sealed the accuser’s fate, especially after her team neglected to make them available to the defense.
It took three hours of deliberating before the jury of two men and six women found the evidence proved the woman consented to the sexual encounter. Furthermore, no criminal charges have been filed in the case, which means Derrick Rose can go back to life as normal.
Many readers say that men and women who file false claims about sexual assault should face prison time. In this case, since it was a civil dispute, do you believe Derrick Rose should take his accuser to court?
