Marshawn Lynch is a man about his business. Over the past year the Seattle running back avoided questioning from the media using phrases like “You know why I’m here,” “Thanks for asking,” and “I’m just here so I won’t get fined.” Now the business savvy Baller was granted a trademark for one of the phrases he coined.
Marshawn Lynch repeated the phrase “I’m just here so I won’t get fined” during last season’s Super Bowl media day. The saying caught on so quickly that Lynch’s team filed for a trademark just weeks later, on February 18th. In April of this year Lynch began selling t-shirts with the now infamous slogan. Now that the trademark has officially been granted, Lynch can expend the use of the phrase to other apparel — including hats, jackets and sweatshirts.
Smart business on Marshawn’s part!
