Toxicology results have been released in the case of Lakeisha, the woman accused of driving onto the sidewalk on the Las Vegas Strip and hitting a crowd of pedestrians in December 2015.
According to prosecutors, her test came back positive for marijuana and marijuana metabolites. Reports say her blood showed 3.5 ng/mL of marijuana and 23.6 ng/mL of the metabolite, which prosecutors said is above Nevada’s legal limit. Lakeisha has said she was sober at the time, though she acknowledged feeling very tired. Her defense attorney said the levels are too low to show she was impaired.
Police said 37 people were hit in the crash and that one person died. Her young daughter was reportedly in the car at the time.
Lakeisha, 24, is charged with murder, child endangerment and failure to stop at the scene of an accident. Her next court date was scheduled for January 20. The charges are allegations and she has not been convicted.
