Colorado Rockies shortstop Jose Reyes was arrested for domestic violence in Hawaii where he was vacationing with his wife.
The alleged incident took place October 31st , but has just now surfaced.
According to police in Maui, Reyes and his wife, Katherine, were in their hotel room at the Four Seasons Resort Maui. They began arguing, when Reyes allegedly grabbed her by the throat and shoved her into a sliding glass door.
Reyes was arrested and released on bail. His wife was taken to the hospital and treated for injuries to her thigh, neck, and wrist.
The MLB issued a statement saying, “Major League Baseball understands the seriousness of the issues surrounding domestic violence, and our policy explicitly recognizes the harm resulting from these acts. Any action taken by the commissioner’s office in this matter will be wholly in accordance with this police.” They have yet to give a punishment.
“We continue to gather information and will address this matter appropriately, in accordance with Major League Baseball’s Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, and Child Abuse Policy,” the Rockies said in a statement.
