Terrell Owens has a slight change of plans regarding the acceptance of his upcoming Pro Football Hall of Fame induction.

Early last month, the former NFL Wide Receiver publicly declined his invitation to attend the August 4 induction ceremony in Canton, Ohio, but has since opted to celebrate his career milestone at his alma mater, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

On Tuesday, Owens tweeted his decision via a statement to his 1.5 million Twitter followers.

“After giving it much thought, I have realized just how much I want to celebrate what will inevitably be the best weekend of my life at a place that means so much to me,” he wrote.

“I’m proud to be a Moc, and I’m honored to be able to share this experience with my family, friends, teammates and fans at the place that provided me an opportunity beyond high school and where I truly began to find myself as an athlete. Thank you to everyone who has supported my celebration decision. I look forward to seeing you all in Chattanooga,” he said in the statement, before ending with his famous catchphrase, “Getcha popcorn ready!”

Drafted in 1996 by the San Francisco 49ers, Owens would go on to play for the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals over the span of his 15 year career.

In addition to Owens’ induction, the hall also voted former NFL Pro Bowlers Ray Lewis, Randy Moss, Brian Urlacher and Brian Dawkins into this year’s prestigious Hall of Fame class.
