“Black-ish” star and four-time Emmy Award nominee, #AnthonyAnderson, is under criminal investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department for an alleged assault charge.
According to The Blast, Anderson allegedly assaulted a woman last year after an event she catered for the actor. Sources familiar with the situation, said the woman met with Anderson following the event to discuss future business opportunities when the assault occurred.

Although the woman apparently did not file a report directly after the alleged incident, The Blast reports, she felt comfortable coming forward months later due to the #MeToo movement—which has encouraged hundreds of women to share their experiences of abuse with powerful men in the entertainment industry.

While no further details about the incident have been released, the LAPD confirmed Anderson as a suspect, adding, “It is an open investigation.”

However, Anderson strongly denies these allegations according the statement released from his representative:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

“It’s unfortunate that anyone can file a police report, whether it is true or false,” the rep continued. “The authorities have not contacted Anthony or any of his representatives about this matter. Anthony unequivocally disputes the claim.”

Now, this incident isn’t the first time Anderson has been accused of assaulting women. He and assistant director, Wayne Witherspoon, were accused of raping an extra on the set of the “Hustle & Flow,” back in 2004. Eventually, the charges were dropped due to lack of probable cause.

Since Anderson has been receiving much success from his patriarchal role as Andre Johnson in Kenya Barris’ ABC family sitcom “Black-ish,” he is set to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame later this year.
