A Michigan Woman Arrested For Murder Of Newborn Twins 17 Years Later

A 2003 cold-case murder has resurfaced after DNA samples provide never-seen-before evidence pointing to the mother of the children, Antoinette Briley.

17 years ago, just north of Chicago Midway Airport, newborn twin boys were found dead in a trash can by a garbage collector.

According to The Tribune, reported by Daily News, the babies were very much born alive. In fact, when their bodies were found, the umbilical cords were still attached.

Their deaths were ruled a homicide by asphyxiation.

Thanks to “advances in genetic research to obtain DNA,” in 2018, detectives combined evidence from the 2003 crime scene with Briley’s DNA. The tested DNA matched the 2003 murders.

Pulled over because of a traffic violation, Briley was taken into custody on Thursday. The following Friday, she was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
