Investigators are looking into the death of a New Jersey Councilwoman who was shot and killed outside her home.
According to officials, Eunice Dwumfour was shot and killed on Wednesday night while sitting inside her SUV. Dwumfour was reportedly dropping off someone at her townhome and was headed to another location. Unfortunately, before she could drive away, an unknown assailant approached the car and fired a shot at Dwumfour.
“I am stunned by the news of Sayreville Councilwoman Eunice Dwumfour’s murder last evening in an act of gun violence,” Murphy said in a statement. “Her career of public service was just beginning, and by all accounts she had already built a reputation as a committed member of the Borough Council who took her responsibility with the utmost diligence and seriousness.”
While authorities are still investigating the murder, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone says Dwumfour’s political role does not appear to be a motive in the attack.
No arrests have been made as investigators are still searching for leads on Dwumfour’s death.
