A White House Reporter may have coronavirus, the White House Correspondents’ Association said on Monday.
In a publicly released memo to WHCA members, the White House Correspondents’ Association said the reporter has been at the White House four times within the last two weeks. The memo did not release any information on the reporter but said it was a “suspected case” of the virus.
”We encourage all journalists who were at the White House during this period to review public health guidance, consult their medical professionals, and take the appropriate next steps,” the WHCA said in the memo.
During White House briefings, reporters are practicing social distancing by being spaced apart. The WHCA has asked all reporters to work from home if possible and to stay away from the White House briefings if they feel ill.
”We ask again that all members who can stay home or work remotely to please do so. Please do not come to the White House if you do not have a workspace or an assigned seat on that day. And please DO NOT come into the White House if you are feeling at all ill,” The memo read.
As of Sunday, the WHCA said they’re postponing the annual association’s dinner, which had been set for April 25.
Saturday Night Live star, Kenan Thompson was prepared to host the dinner, while Hasan Minhaj, of the Netflix show “Patriot Act,” was booked to be the featured speaker.
President Trump breaking decades-long traditions has not attended the last three dinners.
