Sean “Diddy” Combs has reportedly been released from solitary confinement after spending weeks separated from other inmates following an altercation at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey.
According to TMZ, sources with direct knowledge said Diddy was released from solitary after being placed there following a July fight with another inmate. The outlet reported that prison staff stepped in after the men exchanged pushes and jabs.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons has not publicly confirmed the details surrounding his housing status or whether he faced formal discipline over the reported fight. In a statement provided to Page Six, the agency said, “For privacy, safety, and security reasons, we do not release information regarding the conditions of confinement for any inmate, including housing assignments, nor do we discuss whether a particular inmate is the subject of allegations, investigations, or sanctions.”
The confrontation reportedly began after another inmate insulted the mogul. Diddy then took “matters into his own hands,” resulting in a physical exchange before correctional officers separated the men. One source claimed the rapper “held his own” during the incident.
The latest development comes as the Diddy release date continues to change. Federal inmate records reviewed by ABC News in late July listed January 24, 2028, moving his projected release up from February 23, 2028. By August 4, however, Bureau of Prisonslisted February 20, 2028. Officials have not publicly explained the repeated adjustments.
The February 20 date is also the date TMZ reported after Combs left solitary confinement. Because federal release dates can change based on sentence calculations and other factors, the current release date remains projected rather than guaranteed.
Diddy has faced other reported disciplinary issues since entering federal custody. An earlier projected release date was pushed back in November 2025 after alleged rule violations, including drinking “homemade alcohol” and participating in a three way phone call prohibited under prison rules. The Bureau of Prisons has not publicly detailed individual disciplinary findings involving Combs.
The 56-year-old is serving a 50 month federal sentence at the low security Fort Dix facility. A Manhattan jury convicted him in July 2025 on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution under the Mann Act. Jurors acquitted him of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges. U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian sentenced him on October 3, 2025, and imposed a $500,000 fine.
His legal fight is still active. A three judge panel of the Second Circuit heard arguments on April 9 over Combs’ effort to overturn his convictions or sentence. His attorneys argued that the sentencing judge improperly relied on conduct connected to charges the jury rejected, while prosecutors maintained that the judge properly considered evidence related to the Mann Act offenses. The panel had not issued a ruling as of the latest available court docket information.
For now, Combs remains incarcerated at Fort Dix with February 20, 2028 listed as his projected release date while the outcome of his appeal remains pending.
