A$AP Rocky is facing a criminal charge after a woman said he slapped her during his set at the Made In America festival in Philadelphia.
TMZ reported on September 4, 2013, that the Philadelphia District Attorney’s office charged the rapper with simple assault. The festival, put together by Jay Z, took place over the Labor Day weekend on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.
According to TMZ, the woman told prosecutors that A$AP Rocky hit her in the face while he was working his way through the crowd, where fans were reportedly grabbing at his shirt. She is described as a young mother who has not been publicly identified. TMZ also reported that she says she suffered whiplash, which could lead to a civil lawsuit.
A$AP Rocky’s representatives had not responded to the allegations at the time of this report. A charge is not a conviction, and the rapper has not been found responsible for anything.
This is not the first time he has been in the spotlight for an incident with a fan. Earlier this summer, video from a show in Australia appeared to show him slapping a female fan after she knocked off his hat.
