Alannah Keyser’s time on “Love Island USA” has reportedly come to an abrupt end after a resurfaced video sparked widespread backlash online.
According to The U.S. Sun, the 21-year-old contestant has been fired from the Peacock dating series after a video resurfaced that appeared to show her singing along to a song while using the N-word. Although Keyser continued appearing in recently aired episodes because they had already been filmed, production reportedly moved quickly to reduce her screen time.
“Producers edited Alannah out as much as possible from episodes that were pre-taped before the resurfaced racial slur video was exposed,” a production source told the outlet.
The source added that “She couldn’t be removed completely, but her scenes were significantly trimmed down in Tuesday’s episode.”
According to the report, viewers should no longer expect to see Keyser on upcoming episodes.
“Producers were disappointed and embarrassed that this has become another mishap,” the source said, adding that Keyser “will not be in episodes from Thursday onward.”
Keyser entered Season 8 as one of the Casa Amor bombshells, but her debut quickly became overshadowed after social media users circulated the resurfaced clip. Online users also pointed to an old Instagram comment in which she allegedly used the same racial slur. It remains unclear when either incident originally occurred.
Neither Peacock nor Keyser has publicly commented on the reported firing.
Her father, Stephane Keyser, defended his daughter earlier this week, telling TMZ that she was “definitely not racist” and described her as an “educated sweetheart.”
The controversy marks the second time this season that Love Island USA has reportedly removed a contestant over resurfaced racial slur allegations. Before filming began, cast member Vasana Montgomery was reportedly dropped after videos surfaced that allegedly showed her singing the N-word in song lyrics.
At the time, a source close to production told Decider that the videos were privately owned and that producers only became aware of them after Montgomery had already been announced as part of the Season 8 cast.
The latest controversy has once again placed the reality dating series under scrutiny as viewers continue debating how productions should handle contestants’ past social media activity and resurfaced online content.
