Amanda Seales is single again, and she wants all of Grenada to know why. In a new video, the comedian says she ended things with her boyfriend, a man she identifies as Alan, after his family repeatedly asked her for money and he never stepped in to stop them.

Seales opened by making it plain she did not move to the island to be anybody’s piggy bank. “I am not here to be a resource to be exploited,” she said, describing her purpose as empowering people “to save themselves” and “to reconnect us to this earth.” According to Seales, Alan stopped seeing value in that, and things went downhill from there. “He then, you know, started treating me like I was just any regular old John,” she said.
Then she got specific. Seales says Alan’s uncle asked her to buy him a truck or a van so he could start a wholesale business, then later claimed he never asked her for money. She says the mother of Alan’s children told her she needed to give money to him and the kids, while Seales was not allowed to see the children. On top of that, Seales says the woman was posting her picture on WhatsApp.
“This type of behavior is so low vibrational,” Seales said.
Her biggest issue was not the asks themselves. It was the silence from her man. Seales says a “man of stature” would have told his family their behavior was unacceptable and told her, “I got you. Ain’t nobody coming with you. Ain’t nobody coming at you. Ain’t nobody coming for you.” Alan did not do that. He chose them.
Seales also had a message for everyone in Alan’s circle who encouraged him to get money from her. “I want you to know that you misdirected this man,” she said, adding that he “misdirected” himself too by siding with them instead of checking them. “This life is about choices,” she said.

Seales did give Alan some credit. “I learned so much from that man and he was a gift to me in so, so, so many ways,” she said. But she made it clear the gratitude would not keep her quiet. “I can’t be quiet about this because I need to be very clear to everyone on this island in Grenada who you are dealing with,” she said.
Grenada is personal for Amanda Seales. Her mother was born and raised in Mt. Moritz, and Seales holds dual citizenship in the United States and Grenada. The former Insecure star has also said she is retired and has “divested from Hollywood,” and her island life is now playing out in very public fashion.
