Amber Rose is stirring up social media after she used her Instagram story to support a petition calling for the release of rapper Tory Lanez, who was convicted for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020.
In a post shared to her story, Amber reshared a Change.org petition titled “Pardon Tory Lanez: Urge Governor Newsom to Correct a Deep Injustice.” The story included a highlighted message from Amber Rose that read: “FREE TORY!!! He’s innocent his DNA WAS NOT ON THE GUN AT ALL!!! Sign now!”.
Tory Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence after being found guilty of assault with a firearm, negligent discharge, and possession of an unregistered firearm in the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion. The verdict came after a highly publicized trial that included witness testimonies, forensic evidence, and widespread public reaction.
As of now, Governor Gavin Newsom has not responded to the petition. Meanwhile, Tory Lanez’s legal team continues to pursue options for appeal.
