AMC Entertainment is celebrating Juneteenth by launching $5 screenings of classic Black films.

The company launched the AMC Black Picture Showcase and will run it for an entire week at select theaters nationwide. Movie-goers can purchase $5 tickets to see seven Black movies in cinemas which are “Harriet,” “Do The Right Thing,” The Water Man,” “Moonlight,” “Fences,” “Barbershop: The Next Cut,” and “Love & Basketball.”

The showcase was announced shortly after the U.S. declared Juneteenth a federal holiday. AMC CEO Adam Aron said that the move is a “proud and historic moment” that is a “celebration of the impact and accomplishments of African Americans in cinema.” Aron also went on to add that the film exhibition is part of their efforts to strengthen the company’s cultural consciousness, including an internal advisory council working on behalf of African American associates.

The AMC Black Picture Showcase began Friday, June 18th, and will go through Thursday, June 24th, at participating theaters with showtimes varying. The movies will also be available for private theatre rentals.
