American Airlines Passenger Duct-Taped

An American Airlines passenger was restrained with duct tape after reportedly suffering a mental health issue aboard a flight from Dallas-Fort Worth to Charlotte.

TikTok user @lol.ariee posted a now-deleted video showing the woman duct-taped to a seat with tape and also covered her mouth. She also appeared to have her hands bound behind her back.

The woman can repeatedly be heard screaming, “You! You! You!” as passengers walked past her to exit the plane.

Trouble started about an hour into the July 6 flight when passengers noticed the flight attendants going up and down the aisle. They saw the crew was also whispering back and forth to each other. It appeared something was taking place at the front of the plane, but no, the passengers were left in the dark about what was going on.

Eventually, the flight crew began locking bathrooms and grabbing bags from the overhead storage bins. Finally, the captain alerted the passengers to “a bad situation” happening on the plane and asked everyone to remain seated.

In subsequent videos explaining the incident, she heard that the woman had some sort of mental breakdown during the flight.

“While in flight from Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) to Charlotte (CLT) on July 6, the crew onboard American Airlines flight 1774 reported a potential security concern after a customer attempted to open the forward boarding door and physically assaulted, bit, and caused injury to a flight attendant,” the airline said in a statement.

“For the safety and security of other customers and our crew, the individual was restrained until the flight landed at CLT and could be met by law enforcement and emergency personnel,” the statement added.

The woman was met on the ground by medical personnel with a stretcher. She was taken to a hospital for an evaluation. American Airlines has added her to their no-fly list.
