Another athlete is dealing with a very public child support dispute. According to TMZ, Clayanna Warthen, the mother of Andre Iguodala’s daughter, is asking a court to increase his monthly child support payments.
TMZ reports that Warthen says the current amount of $18,000 a month no longer covers the cost of private education for their 6 year old daughter, who is described in the report as extremely gifted. Warthen is reportedly asking for the payment to go up to $58,000 a month. She also points to Iguodala’s earnings, reported to be around $11 million a year, as a sign that he can afford the increase.
The report also notes that Iguodala has a son with his girlfriend, Christine Gutierrez. Iguodala had not publicly responded to the request at the time of this post, and the court has not ruled on it.
These are claims made in court filings and reported by TMZ, so the final amount, if any increase is granted, will be decided by a judge. We will keep you posted if more details come out.
