Angel Reese spotted the fan who threw a sex toy onto the court during Thursday’s Dream Sparks game, and he has since been arrested and banned indefinitely from all WNBA, NBA, and league-affiliated events.
Video:
It happened with 2:59 left in the third quarter at Crypto.com Arena, with Atlanta up 84-53. Sparks guard Jihyun Park was at the free throw line when a green object came out of the stands, bounced in front of her, and skidded across the paint near the Los Angeles bench. Someone from the bench area threw a towel over it. Sparks center Cameron Brink kicked it away. Security removed it with the towel and play resumed. Before any of that, Reese was already pointing. From the scorer’s table she gestured up into the stands, and Prime announcer Mike Watts called it live, saying Reese was pointing out the perpetrator.
Video shows the man taking off from the 100s section and shoving a security guard on his way out. He did not make it. Arena staff caught him in the scramble and he was arrested. Front Office Sports first reported the arrest and the indefinite ban, which covers WNBA games, NBA games, and any other league-affiliated events.
He has not been publicly identified. Clips circulating on X show a person in a Luka Doncic jersey trying to get away from security, though it has not been confirmed that the person in those clips is the one taken into custody.
The WNBA issued a statement after the game restating its policy. The league said the safety and well-being of everyone in its arenas is a top priority, that objects thrown onto the court or into the seating area pose a safety risk to players, officials, and fans, and that under WNBA Arena Security Standards any fan who intentionally throws an object onto the court will be immediately ejected and face a minimum one-year ban plus arrest and prosecution by local authorities.
This is the first time it has happened this season, 381 days after the last one. Last summer it was close to a weekly occurrence. It started July 29, 2025, at a Dream Valkyries game in College Park, Georgia, and spread to arenas in Atlanta, Chicago, New York, Phoenix, and Los Angeles across roughly five games. Two people were arrested during that stretch. Delbert Carver, 23, was charged with disorderly conduct, public indecency, and criminal trespass over the first one, and told police in an affidavit that it was supposed to be a joke that went viral.
The part that keeps this from being purely funny came at a Liberty game, where a 32-year-old man was charged with two counts of assault after police said the object he threw hit a 12-year-old girl. He pleaded not guilty and his attorney said the video does not show anyone getting hit.
For Reese, the throw hijacked what was otherwise a perfect night. She finished with 20 points on nine of nine shooting and 10 rebounds, extending her streak of double-digit boards to 10 straight games, in a 124-88 win.
