According to ABC News, 27-year-old Demarcus Donnell Parker has been sentenced to two life terms and 835 years in prison for the fatal shooting of an off-duty officer in northeast Arkansas.
According to court documents, Parker was convicted Tuesday of first-degree murder, illegally shooting a weapon from a vehicle, and 21 related charges in the April 2018 shooting, which led to the death of a Forrest City Officer Oliver Johnson.
Prosecutors said Parker was shooting at rival gang members outside of Johnson’s home in West Memphis when the officer was struck by a stray bullet. Investigators said Johnson was not the target of the gunfire.
Trial on similar charges is pending against co-defendant George Henderson, who has pleaded not guilty to the shooting.
