An autopsy has now been completed in the death of influencer Ashlee Jenae, but her family says the most critical answers remain out of reach.
The update marks a significant step in the death investigation, yet it has done little to ease the growing frustration surrounding the case. Her father, Harry Robinson, told TMZ he recently traveled to Washington, D.C. in an effort to push U.S. officials to help establish communication with authorities in Tanzania, where his daughter died. That outreach appeared to yield progress. Robinson said officials were able to make contact, and the family was informed the autopsy was completed Tuesday. However, the relief was short-lived. The family has still not received the results.
Robinson said they have only been told the investigation remains ongoing, leaving them in a holding pattern as they wait for the full report to determine their next steps.
Compounding the situation, Tanzanian authorities have not released Ashlee’s body to her family, extending what Robinson described as an already painful ordeal. Without both the autopsy findings and custody of her remains, the family says they are unable to move forward.
A local Tanzanian outlet previously reported records listing her “immediate cause of death” as cerebral hypoxia due to strangulation and suffocation, though officials have not confirmed those findings publicly.
Ashlee, whose real name was Ashly Robinson, died April 10 after being found unconscious at a Zanzibar resort. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances, including a reported dispute involving her fiancé, Joseph McCann, prior to her death. He is currently being questioned after initially claiming the woman hung herself.
