The Atlanta Dream will play all 25 home games at State Farm Arena starting in 2027, the team announced Tuesday. The team is leaving Gateway Center Arena in College Park for the downtown home of the Atlanta Hawks.
The multiyear agreement begins with the 2027 WNBA season, when the league expands to 50 regular season games per team. That gives Atlanta 25 home dates, and every one of them will be downtown.
The move comes down to seats. Gateway Center Arena holds roughly 3,500 fans, the smallest venue in the WNBA. State Farm Arena holds more than 17,000 for basketball.
The Atlanta Dream have been filling every seat they can get. The team sold out every game at Gateway over the past three seasons and sold out State Farm Arena eight times in that span, with crowds topping 17,000. Under new ownership over the past five years, season ticket memberships have grown more than 400 percent, with buyers in all 50 states.
“State Farm Arena gives us the opportunity to welcome thousands of additional fans while creating an even bigger stage for women’s basketball in Atlanta,” said Morgan Shaw Parker, president and COO of the Dream.
Andrew Saltzman, who runs business operations for the Hawks and State Farm Arena, said the venue is looking forward to raising the visibility of women’s basketball in the city.
The team has been testing the bigger stage for a while. The Dream played two games downtown in 2024 and one in 2025, all against the Indiana Fever and all in front of crowds over 17,000. This season, the team scheduled five games at State Farm Arena, starting with a home opener against the defending champion Las Vegas Aces. In June it added a sixth, moving an August matchup with the Aces downtown. The Dream’s 2026 playoff games were also scheduled there.
The winning helped. The Atlanta Dream posted a 30 and 14 record in 2025 under first year head coach Karl Smesko, the best season in franchise history. This year, they clinched their fourth straight playoff berth.
Season tickets for 2027 are on sale now through atlantadream.com. Fans can lock in lower bowl seats with a $27 deposit, and a $100 deposit holds a premium membership in the first three rows. The team has not released the 2027 schedule or game dates.
