The highly-anticipated, third installment of the Bad Boys franchise, has been stalled once again.

Bad Boys 3, otherwise known as Bad Boys for Life, has been in talks for years. Initially, rumors swirled regarding whether Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) and Mike Lowrey (Will Smith) would ever return to the big screen.  In 2016, the studio provided big news for fans by announcing that they would be releasing two new Bad Boys installments, set to hit theaters two years apart. However, as the initial 2017 release date for Bad Boys 3 came and went, the movie’s release got pushed back a year. Now, amid development, the film has hit yet another roadblock following the exit of the film’s director Joe Carnahan.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the director, who signed on in place of the original mastermind Michael Bay, has pulled out of the development process due to scheduling conflicts. However, sources tell the publication that the real reason behind his departure is due to “creative differences.” Initially, Carnahan, who also helped pen the most recent draft of the script, felt very confident in the development of the third installment of the film, saying that he had the “strongest script of any of those movies. Hands down. In a walk over,” reports state.

Now, in the wake of Carnahan’s exit, the studio is in search of a new director, as well as a new writer.

In the meantime, Carnahan will be using his new found free time, to work on the English-language remake of the Indonesian film “The Raid.”

It’s been nearly 14 years since the last Bad Boys movie. Do you still want to see Bad Boys 3 be made?
