Bahamas Beach Resort Says Surveillance Video Doesn't Support Kentucky Women's Sexual Assault Claims

Dongayla Dobson and Amber Shearer

The Bahamas beach resort where two Kentucky moms claim they were drugged and raped is disputing their version of events.

Pirate Cove Beach Resort released a statement where they claimed surveillance footage does not support the women’s versions of events.

“Upon further review of the surveillance videos, the allegations made on site, and in subsequent social media posts and news stories, conflict with what the time-stamped surveillance videos contain,” their statement read.

The alleged incident was brought to light days ago when Dongayla Dobson and Amber Shearer both claimed online that during an excursion off of their Carnival Cruises ship, Bahamian men gave them spiked drinks after luring them away to go on a seashell collection trip. The women say they blacked out after the drinks, and when they woke up in a bathroom, they were covered in bruises and had been sexually assaulted.

Two men have since been arrested, but their identities have not been made public. The resort claims that the men, who were employees at their location, were fired for “violating our zero-tolerance policy.”

Carnival has also insisted the women were not part of their excursions to the beach that day. Instead, they went off on their own journeys outside any offered by the company. Nevertheless, the women maintain they were assaulted and stated that their toxicology reports showed a cocktail of drugs in their system but no alcohol.

The women have since enlisted the services of a lawyer and are currently taking medication for HIV prevention.
