Damon Dash’s former girlfriend says the hip hop mogul has fallen behind on child support for their son.
Linda, the mother of 19 year old Damon Dash Jr., says Dash hasn’t been paying the $425 a week a court ordered. She also says their son was accepted to Five Towns College in Dix Hills, New York, on a $30,000 music scholarship, but that Dash didn’t want him to go, even though it wouldn’t have cost him anything.
“He keeps telling him ‘tell your mom to drop the child support case and get out of court,'” she said. She says Dash has been setting their son up with DJ gigs in New York, and she worries he could fall in with the wrong crowd.
According to Linda, her child support was once more than $3,700 a month and was later cut to less than half that.
Dash’s money problems go well beyond child support. Radar Online reports that two Manhattan lofts he owned went into foreclosure last year, and New Jersey’s Division of Taxation lists him as one of the state’s biggest debtors, owing more than $23 million in back taxes to New York and New Jersey. Linda says she doesn’t believe he’s completely broke.
Dash has not commented. The Roc-A-Fella cofounder may not be living like he used to, but whatever his situation, his son’s education should come first.
