By now, we’re used to rappers going overboard with their extravagant jewelry. We previously highlighted some of the most Ballerific watches that some of our favorite rappers have sported. Several of those timepieces reached million-dollar price tags, a regular occurrence for hip-hop gems. However, some rappers tend to take their diamonds to the next level, resulting in often shocking creations. There was a time when Jesus pendants were the most unique and in high-demand pieces among lyricists. As the years progressed, so did the jewelry business, with diamond creations becoming much more intricate. Take, for instance, the head Cuban link, recently worn by Kevin Gates, which seems to be his modern-day spin on a laurel wreath.
Though a fascinating choice for Gates, this is certainly not the only one-of-a-kind piece that has left some fans a bit confused.
Lil Jon’s Crunk Ain’t Dead Necklace
Lil Jon’s “Crunk Ain’t Dead” chain made the Guinness World Record in 2007 for the “largest diamond pendant” in the world. The necklace cost approximately $500,000 and has a total of 73 diamond carats.
Rick Ross Self-Portrait Necklace
Rick Ross was first seen spotting a yellow-diamond self-portrait chain in 2008. A few years later, he dropped a new version of the piece, which was a diamond-encrusted full-body replica of himself that featured a self-portrait chain attached to it. This reportedly ran him $1.5 million.
T-Pain “Big A** Chain” Necklace
T-Pain has expressed regret over his $400,000 “Big A** Chain,” which he purchased in 2009. Last year, he revealed that the necklace depreciated to roughly $200,000 over the years despite being filled with white and yellow gold and plenty of diamonds.
Yung Joc “H” Necklace
Yung Joc paid $150,000 for a giant “H’ on his massive rope chain. The letter represented “Hustlenomics,” his second studio album. Unfortunately, a brawl in London ended with the necklace being snatched from him.
