DMX was released from an Arizona state prison in Yuma on Tuesday after serving a sentence for violating his probation, according to the Associated Press. The rapper, whose legal name is Earl Simmons, walked out with family members waiting to pick him up.
Per the AP, DMX was sentenced to one year in December 2010 after his probation was revoked for refusing to submit to drug testing and driving on a suspended license. He was credited with 117 days already served. His release came about a week later than expected because he failed a drug test while locked up, the AP reported.
TMZ reported that DMX was found guilty of several prison rule violations during his stay, including drug possession, refusing a drug test and smoking.
About 15 minutes after he got out, DMX told AllHipHop.com he was “feeling good, feeling really good.” TMZ reported that he had already talked to his wife and his daughter by phone and planned to see his daughter that same day before heading to the recording studio.
