Ballerific Relationships – He Did the Crime, Are You Doing the Time?

As the news of Apollo Nida’s sentencing spreads, I can’t help but to think back to our Felon Friday conversation about the infamous Jeremy Meeks. I asked how many women were willing to date someone with a criminal past and a lot of you answered ‘NAWL, FAM’ to that question. A few women did state that they would consider pursuing the relationship depending on the charge and whether the guy has changed. But what if said felon is your husband (fiance or serious boyfriend)? Not only does he have a criminal past but he is currently on lock down due to recent charges. How would that change the game? It’s easy to say that you wouldn’t start a new relationship with a felon bae, but it’s something different when you have invested time, Love and children.

Personally, I would be completely turned off. I don’t see myself feeling compelled to ‘ride’ for someone who intentionally put themselves in a predicament that not only has a direct effect on me, but on the lives of our children. There are those who end up in bad situations because life happens and they didn’t think their actions through and there are those (like Apollo) who are fully aware of their actions and the consequences that may follow. If you KNOW those things and STILL don’t change your behavior then it’s curtains for you. Well, bars. Now, I do believe that this is a situation I would have to be in to say what I would actually do but since I am not? UN UN! NOPE! Of course, I won’t leave them completely hanging and I’d make sure they have a toothbrush or a pack of Ramen noodles or something but that’s all I can promise.

What about you, are you doing a bid with your boo? Are you packing up the kids and rolling out to the county to see/support your man? Does it depend on the amount of time sentenced?
