Ballerific Sports: The Chicago Bears’ Tim Jennings Avoids Jail, Pleads Guilty to Reckless Driving: blogged by @niksofly

Chicago Bears’ cornerback, Tim Jennings, has dodged jail.  Striking a plea deal with prosecutors on Thursday, Jennings plead guilty to reckless driving. In lieu of  the possible jail bid for the DUI conviction, Jennings will have one year of probation and 40 hours of community service.

On January 8th of this year, Jennings was arrested. The 31 year old was charged with speeding, reckless driving, and a DUI. Allegedly, Jennings refused to perform a sobriety test after maintaining he was not intoxicated. The arresting officer originally pulled Jennings over for doing 99 in a 65mph zone. When the officer inquired about the reason Jennings was speeding, Jennings simply replied that he was late for a parent-teacher conference.

With the Bears’ training camp beginning on Thursday, Jennings has already missed one day of practice.  Commenting on his absence, Coach John Fox attributed it to “personal reasons”. and expected to return Friday.

The Two-time Pro-Bowler garnered a four-year extension that would take him into 2018 with the Bears. The $22.4 million  was given as “rewarding excellence”.

Hopefully this is all behind Jennings and he will move forward with a successful season.

OAN: I wish more parents consider parent-teacher conferences that vital.
