BA’s “What Did Trump Do Now?” Trump Calls Media The “Enemy Of The People” Following Mailed Bombs And Pittsburgh Mass Shooting

Instead of trying to figure out who is responsible for a recent mass shooting, and acknowledging the real threat behind Democrats being mailed bombs, #DonaldTrump claims “the true Enemy of People” is the media.⠀

On Monday (Oct. 29), Trump tweeted out, “There is great anger in our Country caused in part by inaccurate, and even fraudulent, reporting of the news.” He added that the media “must stop the open & obvious hostility & report the news accurately & fairly.”

In the last week, several prominent Democrats like Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and Maxine Waters, were mailed active bombs. CNN was also targeted with bombs in the mail. In addition, 11 people were killed in a mass shooting at a synagogue in Pittsburgh’s Squirrel Hill. Trump is expected to visit Pittsburgh on Tuesday; the shooting has been deemed “an evil anti-Semitic attack.” The incidents come as the country is the most divided, with the upcoming midterm elections causing some of the worst bipartisan confrontations in history.

Several people have spoken out about Trump needing to refrain from speaking on his own bipartisan views and opinions. NBC’s Chuck Todd tweeted in response to Trump, saying, “If you actually believe media is the problem then the last thing one should do is respond with your own hate and anger … Try leading; try setting an example.” On Sunday, Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif, also responded on CNN’s “State of the Union saying, “Trump sets a tone “of division, often one of hatred, sometimes one of incitement of violence against journalists, and there is no escaping our responsibility.”

Others, like Washington Post opinion writer Marvin Kalb and more, are urging Trump to look in the mirror to find the real enemy of the people. “And so, Mr. President, with all due respect to your office, the media is not the “enemy of the people.” Given your words and actions, maybe it would be a good time for you to look in the mirror,” said Kalb.
