Claressa Shields posted a video going off on Atlanta radio host Mz Shyneka Richardson, telling her she finally got the viral moment she was after and daring her to say the Papoose commentary to her face next time.
Video:
The setup goes back to Thursday, July 30. Shields stopped by The Streetz Morning Takeover on Streetz 94.5 in Atlanta to promote her August 15 fight against Lani Daniels, sitting with Yung Joc and Shawty Shawty. Somewhere around the eight minute mark, Mz Shyneka asked her how much longer she was willing to be in a relationship with somebody’s husband. Shields did not dodge it. She told the room to pause, said Papoose is not somebody’s husband, and pointed to the divorce filing. She said he filed because he is serious about her, and added that if people are going to keep calling him Remy Ma’s husband, they should call Remy his wife and hold her accountable for her own life too. That answer traveled on its own. What Claressa Shields says came next is the part that pushed her to hit record. According to her, Mz Shyneka started popping up on other shows after the interview, running theories about why Papoose is with her.
“Shanika, your big fat [expletive] sat up there and talked that [expletive] to me, and then when I checked you respectfully, I checked you respectfully, in your face, in your face, you shut all that disrespectful [expletive] up,” Shields said in the video. “Now, after the fact, you got all this lip, all this lip and talking all this [expletive] because you never got this much attention before in your life being a radio host. I didn’t even know who you was. I came there for Joc and Shawty. I did not come there for you.”
The through line of the whole rant is timing. Shields keeps circling back to the fact that the radio host had her right there and said none of it. “You didn’t say none of that stuff when you were sitting there in my presence. Why you didn’t say it? Why you didn’t say it? Because I gave you space and opportunity. I answered you respectfully and left you where it was at.”
From there Claressa Shields turned it personal. She alleged that Mz Shyneka went through a divorce of her own behind cheating on her husband with a barber, and questioned how someone with that history could have anything to say about her situation. Those are Shields’ claims about the radio host, not anything Mz Shyneka has confirmed publicly, and the radio host has not responded to them as of now. Shields also drew the line she has been drawing for months on the marriage question. “How the [expletive] you mad at me because I told you that my man is going through a divorce? So I, we, us do not consider him a married man. He’s a separated man going through a divorce.”
Then came the part that is going to live on timelines the longest. Rather than let anyone else narrate why Papoose is with her, Shields laid it out herself.
“I wanna tell you the real reason why Pap is with me, because I don’t think you know. I’ma tell you,” she said. “I’m a bad[expletive] [expletive], flat out. My [expletive] is real, my body’s real, I look good as [expletive] in the face, I’m successful, I’m young, and the things that my little punana can do is amazing. That’s why we together.”
She closed it by handing Mz Shyneka exactly what she thinks the host was chasing. “So I just wanna let you know that while you did all that, now here’s your viral moment that you wanted. So since now you got your viral moment, Miss Shanika, hopefully next time when you see me face to face, know that I can say the same [expletive] to you I’m saying right now. I can say it to your face. Unlike you.”
For anyone who has not tracked the paperwork side of this, the reason that original question keeps getting asked is that Papoose is legally still married. He filed for divorce from Remy Ma in New Jersey on May 22, 2025, citing irreconcilable differences, and he filed hours after Remy went on Instagram Live saying he was stalling and that she would pay for the filing herself. More than a year later the divorce has not been finalized. The two share a young daughter and were together for close to two decades. Both have moved on publicly, Papoose with Claressa Shields and Remy with battle rapper Eazy The Block Captain, and both have accused the other of infidelity throughout the marriage.
That gap between separated and legally divorced is the opening every interviewer keeps walking through, and Shields has been answering some version of it since she and Papoose sat with The Breakfast Club in December. What is different this time is that she is no longer treating the question as the problem. She is treating what happens after the interview as the problem.
Claressa Shields fights Lani Daniels on August 15 in Atlanta, the same city where the interview happened.
