Beyoncé Collab’s With Peloton To Create Themed Workouts For HBCUs

It was announced today that Beyonce and the elite workout conglomerate Peloton partnered to create a series of themed workouts to honor historically black colleges and universities.

The HBCUs will have cycling, running, strength, boot camp, yoga, and meditation classes that would be a tribute to the annual homecoming ceremonies, which also inspired Beyoncé’s 2019 live album and documentary.  On Tuesday, the company said that they would be available on the peloton’s high-end stationary bike and treadmill and its mobile app.

Beyonce said in a statement, “I am a member of the peloton for many years, and I am excited to partner with a company that helps people, young and old.”

Dara Treseder, SVP, Head of Global Marketing and Communications for Peloton said, “Beyoncé is a Peloton member, and she is the most requested artist on our platform,” and “over time, we developed a series of classes that exclusively feature an artist’s catalog with everyone from Dolly Parton to Jennifer Lopez,” she exclaimed. “Our members loved them. So we started to think and talk about how we could build upon the series and make it even more impactful for our members and the larger world.”

The Peloton did not disclose any financial terms of its association with the Grammy winner. Despite the announcement, its stock price was nearly 4.5 percent to $ 104.47 in prepaid trading on Tuesday after a 20.3 percent loss on Monday.

The Beyonce and Peloton collaboration will be providing a two-year free digital subscription to 10 HBCU students by the end of November, allowing them access to a library of classes that can be used with or without equipment.

The peloton will also be recruiting students from schools for internships, including Bennett College, Clark Atlanta University, Grazing State University, Hampton University, Howard University, Morehouse College of Medicine and Spellman College, Texas Southern University, and Wilberforce University.
