Beyoncé Hit with Cease-and-Desist Over Unauthorized Use of Las Vegas Sphere in Concert Video

Beyoncé has been hit with a cease-and-desist letter from attorneys representing James Dolan, the CEO of Sphere Entertainment, after a video from her recent concert tour showed her holding the Las Vegas Sphere.

The letter, from King & Spalding’s Kathleen McCarthy, accuses Beyoncé’s production company, Parkwood Entertainment, of unauthorized use of the Sphere’s imagery. The video, posted by concertgoers from her Los Angeles shows, depicts a towering Beyoncé picking up the iconic venue, making her appear “many orders of magnitude larger than the Sphere.”

The video was posted online by concertgoers who saw her shows in Los Angeles last week.

The letter, obtained by The Post, claims the footage violates Sphere’s intellectual property rights, particularly as the venue has never been approached for permission.

“The prominent appearance and manipulation of SEG’s Sphere venue in the video is unauthorized,” McCarthy wrote. Sphere is demanding that the imagery be removed by Monday, threatening further action if not complied with.

This controversy comes after rumors swirled that Beyoncé might end her tour with a residency at the Sphere, further fueling speculation. Despite this, Sphere had previously rejected Beyoncé’s request for a two-week rehearsal shutdown and a $10 million production budget similar to U2’s deal.

While Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter tour continues across major cities, including a July stop at Allegiant Stadium near the Sphere, the venue’s management is firm in its demands. If Beyoncé refuses to comply, Sphere Entertainment reserves the right to take further legal action. Fans shared clips of the controversial video widely, while reports suggest Beyoncé’s team is still in talks with rival MGM for a different residency deal.
