After putting on a show that honored HBCU culture, #Beyonce has pledged $100,000 to HBCUs for the 2018-2019 academic year.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The singer announced that one student from Bethune Cookman University, Xavier University, Wilberforce University, and Tuskegee University will each receive a $25,000 scholarship next school year.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The effort marks the second installment of the Houston native’s BeyGOOD Initiative’s Homecoming Scholars Award program.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

According to Ivy McGregor, a representative of Parkwood Entertainment which houses #BeyGOOD  said the initiative salutes “the rich legacy of #HBCUs.”

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

“We honor all institutions of higher learning for maintaining the culture and creating environments for optimal learning which expands dreams and the seas of possibilities for students,” McGregor added.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Scholarships are available to students majoring in literature, creative arts, African American studies, science, education, business, communications, social sciences, computer science and engineering.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Recipients will be selected by their respective university and announced Summer 2018.
